A short marriage for Green, Barrymore

A short marriage for Green, Barrymore
LOS ANGELES -- Whoever said it wouldn't last is ... right. Comic Tom Green is divorcing "Charlie's Angels" actress Drew Barrymore after less than six months of marriage. The pair got hitched July 4.
And they seemed like such the perfect couple!
Green filed a Superior Court petition in Los Angeles Monday, citing the dreaded irreconcilable differences, but didn't give any details. "Drew is a wonderful woman. I love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out. I wish her much happiness," Green gushed in a statement, which makes you wonder why he asked for a divorce in the first place.
Barrymore rep Jennifer Allen said she was unaware of the filing and had been unable to reach the actress.
Divorce is finalfor Garth Brooks
NASHVILLE -- The divorce is final for Garth Brooks and his wife of nearly 15 years, Sandy.
The 39-year-old country singer cited irreconcilable differences in a complaint filed November 2000 in Nashville's Davidson County Circuit Court. The couple had been separated since March 1999, according to court papers.
Karen Byrd, spokeswoman for Brooks, would not comment beyond confirming that the singer's divorce is final.
The couple have three daughters, ages 8, 6 and 4. They have homes in Tennessee and Oklahoma.
Brooks has sold more than 100 million albums, won two Grammys, and is known for hits including "The Dance" and "Friends in Low Places." His new album, "Scarecrow," is No. 1 on the Billboard country chart and has sold 242,000 units since its release Nov. 13.
That wasn't stealing;it was research
LOS ANGELES -- Winona Ryder had a ready-made explanation for last week's shoplifting caper: She was researching a movie role.
At least that's what the "Girl, Interrupted" star told security guards after she was arrested last week for stealing clothing and hair accessories worth about $5,000. Problem is, Ryder is not involved in any film project at the moment.
Ryder's lawyer, Mark Geragos, said that there had been a "misunderstanding on the part of the store," and that Ryder was innocent. He also said that the medications the actress was carrying were all prescribed, even though Ryder was unable to document that at the time of her arrest. The Beverly Hills District Attorney's Office is pondering whether to charge Ryder with grand theft and with possession of drugs without a prescription, or to drop the charges.

NEW YORK -- Lindsey Vuolo, 20, Playboy's most recent Jewish playmate, is set to debate pornography with "Kosher Sex" author Rabbi Shumley Boteach.
Vuolo, who was Miss November, is confident people will appreciate her brainy side.
"Once people talk to me, they realize I not only had the guts to take my clothes off, but I'm intellectually prepared to defend myself," the Yardley, Pa., native told New York magazine. They'll debate today in New York.
