Food and gift baskets
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown-Mahoning Valley United Way Union Counselor Association began assembling holiday food and gift baskets today for pick up by needy families Wednesday and Thursday.
Baskets contain enough food to prepare a complete holiday meal. Recipients were selected from referrals made to the association, which receives donations from local unions to enable purchase of food for the baskets.
Farm safety course
WARREN -- A 12-week safety course focusing on common farm equipment will be offered by the Trumbull County Extension 4-H program beginning Jan. 9.
Upon successful completion of the course, 14- to 16-year-old participants will earn certification to legally operate tractors or farm machinery on any farm.
The class will meet weekly on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $18. Call (330) 675-2595 for a registration form.
