COLUMBIANA CO. Board members meet in schools

For years, the Salem city school board has had its meetings in the district administration building along East State Street.
But recently, the board has moved to new surroundings
Meetings are now being scheduled in different schools so the board and the public can visit the buildings, schools Superintendent Dr. David Brobeck explained.
The strategy showcases each school and often provides glimpses into student activities.
A recent board meeting at Reilly Elementary featured songs by a chorus of Reilly pupils.
Officials honored: East Palestine Mayor Raymond Hull recognized Councilmen Doug Simpson and Daniel Wilkovich last week for their years of service on the council. Simpson served for 10 years, and Wilkinson served for five. Neither sought re-election.
To present the councilmen with certificates, Hull asked them to come from behind the council tables to the front of the room.
"This must be the lynching," Simpson cracked.
