MILTON TOWNSHIP Resolution asks state to deny liquor license

One trustee said he hopes the action will deter others.
LAKE MILTON -- Milton Township officials are letting their feelings be known about a local drinking establishment.
They have unanimously passed a resolution asking state liquor officials to deny any request to renew or transfer the liquor license held by Dean Carson, owner of Dean's Place on state Route 534 in Diamond, which was raided by Milton Township police in early November.
"We are definitely against this license," Trustee Frank Tomaino said.
The denial request cites "acts of prostitution, promotion of prostitution, sale of liquor to underage persons, allowing alcoholic beverages to be removed from the building, disorderly conduct and assaults upon law enforcement officials" at the bar.
Sending a message: Tomaino said that he hoped that seeking denial of Dean's liquor license would deter others from trying to operate similar establishments in the township.
"We don't want any strip bars out here and we were afraid that was what was going to happen," Tomaino said.
Township police raided Dean's Place on Nov. 1. The bar has been closed since.
Police Chief William Moretz said he was glad trustees made the resolution.
"As soon as one bar does this, all kinds of bars in the area might," Moretz said. "We don't want that in the township."
Detective Harold Johnson said there was a dance stage for strippers, a DJ booth and a private dance room. "Everything in the bar defined it as a strip club, and we don't allow that in the township," he said.
