New York Bar exam
Lisa S. Edwards, daughter of Ron and Lynne Edwards of Liberty, has passed the New York State Bar Examination and is now a staff attorney for the Manhattan offices of Jones, Day, Reavis & amp; Pogue.
Edwards graduated from Liberty High School in 1983, Ohio State University in 1992, and Capitol University Law School in Columbus in 1996.
SCOUTS
Eagle Award recipient
Scot M. Homlitas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Homlitas of Warren, has received the Eagle Scout Award, Boy Scouting's highest honor.
He is a member of the Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America 15, with Thomas Namola serving as scoutmaster.
Homlitas became a member of the troop in March 1994. He has had troop positions of librarian, scribe, troop historian and troop guide.
He is currently assistant scoutmaster. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow Wapashuwi Lodge 56, Tapawingo Chapter.
His Eagle service project was to benefit St. Pius X Church, Warren. He directed a scout crew in upgrading the handicap-access ramp at the church's rectory entrance, which consisted of installing anti-skid strips on the floor and handrails with stabilizers on both sides of the ramp.
He is a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church and also attends St. Pius X.
He has been an altar server at both churches for the past eight years.
Homlitas is a senior at John F. Kennedy High School.
He has participated in two community service projects for the needy as a member of his school's religion class.
HONORS
Court reporting
The National Center for State Courts has appointed Patricia A. Lutza, formerly of Youngstown, the daughter of George and Cathy Lutza of Youngstown, as a court-reporting fellow to its Courtroom 21 Project.
Courtroom 21 is located at the College of William and Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Va.
The project is a joint effort of the college and National Center for State Courts and is showcased as the most technologically advanced teaching courtroom in the country.
Lutza now lives in Lansing, Mich., and is the owner of P.A.L. Court Reporters, also in Lansing.
She is chairwoman of the National Court Reporters Foundation. On a state level, Lutza has served as president and vice president of the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters.
She was the first Michigan court reporter to achieve NCRA's Certified Realtime Reporter designation and also has earned NCRA's Registered Professional Reporter and Michigan's Certified Shorthand Reporter designations.
NCRA is a 27,000-member nonprofit organization representing the judicial reporting and media captioning professions.
