Cindy Crawford takes another shot at acting

Cindy Crawford takesanother shot at acting
Supermodel Cindy Crawford's first move into feature films, 1995's "Fair Game," died an ugly death at the box office, garnering jeers from fans and critics alike.
Now she's back with the romance "The Simian Line," opening nationwide Monday, and this time, things are different, Reuters reports.
For one, the film is an indie shot on a small budget. For another, whereas "Fair Game" had Crawford playing opposite Billy Baldwin, "The Simian Line" boasts an ensemble cast including veterans William Hurt, Lynn Redgrave, Eric Stoltz, Harry Connick Jr. and Tyne Daly.
"It was like acting camp for two weeks," said Crawford. The film follows three couples who are told by a psychic that one pair will break up by New Year's Eve, and is a small slice-of-life picture being released amid a sea of Hollywood blockbusters like "Lord of the Rings," "Vanilla Sky" and "Ocean's Eleven."
Crawford is playing the acting game coolly. Of "Fair Game" she told Reuters: "It's not the best movie, nor is it the worst, and I'm not ashamed of it. It was an action movie. I felt a little unfairly held up to high expectations."
Former tennis star gives birth to daughter
MIAMI -- Now there will be a different kind of racket in former tennis star Mary Joe Fernandez's house.
The Olympic gold medalist, who was ranked No. 4 in the world three times, gave birth Tuesday to her first child, a daughter.
Isabella Maria Godsick was born at Baptist Hospital to Fernandez and her tennis agent husband, Tony Godsick, their publicist said. The baby weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.
Fernandez and Godsick have homes in Cleveland and Key Biscayne, an island town off Miami. Godsick is a vice president of IMG Tennis. His clients include Monica Seles and Lindsay Davenport.
The 30-year-old Fernandez has worked as a tennis broadcaster and commentator since her retirement.
Along with winning several professional tennis titles from 1990 to 1997, she also won a gold medal in doubles and a bronze medal in singles at the 1992 Olympics and a gold medal in doubles in the 1996 Olympics.
