CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight



BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
Kristin Leigh McDonald of Austintown has accepted membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society. She is the daughter of Vernon and Trudy McDonald. The society is an academic honors organization with more than 300 chapters.
SOUTHERN COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY
Rebecca Williamson of Salem was recognized at the recent convocation ceremony at SCO in Memphis, Tenn. Williamson is president of the college's Omega Delta fraternity and the Sports Vision Society. Williamson, the daughter of Paul and Janet Williamson of Salem, is a graduate of Salem High School and received a bachelor's degree from John Carroll University. SCO offers a four-year doctor of optometry degree.
HIRAM COLLEGE
Anne D'Angelo of Niles and Gretchen Mocker of Youngstown recently spent 12 weeks in England as part of a study abroad program sponsored by Hiram College. The program, "The Old Millennium Meets the New Millennium: Castles and Cathedrals of England," included the study of ancient and medieval monuments in Britain. Mocker and D'Angelo are juniors and plan to major in English.
UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND
Adam Zitello of Poland, a sophomore, spent the summer and fall studying pollution levels in Rhode Island's ground water as part of URI's Coastal Fellows Program. The program involves undergraduate students in current environmental problems. Zitello's major is undecided, but he is leaning toward a degree in environmental science and environmental economics.
