Groundbreaking setfor Wheeling Shoppes
WHEELING W.Va. -- Groundbreaking is set for March 1 for Wheeling Shoppes, a shopping plaza being built by DeBartolo Property Group. Wal-Mart is expected to be one anchor in the center, with a second anchor to be announced within 30 days, DeBartolo said.
Opening of the plaza is expected in 2003 along with the opening of a new Interstate 70 interchange. The 1 million-square-foot plaza is to create more than 1,000 full-time and part-time jobs.
The real estate development company is owned by Eddie DeBartolo. It is based in Tampa, Fla., but has offices in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and Boardman.
Heinz's earningsup from a year ago
PITTSBURGH -- H.J. Heinz Co.'s second-quarter earnings rose 9.6 percent on strong sales of ketchup and frozen foods, the company reported Thursday.
Heinz earned $208 million, or 59 cents a share, in the three months ended Oct. 31 compared with $190 million, or 54 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. The results matched analysts' estimates surveyed by Thomson Financial/First Call.
