Mercer controller takes job with firm

MERCER, Pa. -- Mercer County Controller Dennis Songer will be joining a Hermitage financial company when he leaves office at the end of the year.
Songer, who has served as controller for eight years announced a year ago that he wouldn't seek a third term but planned to return to the private sector.
He said recently that he will be joining the firm of Jazwinski Financial Services Inc.
Jazwinski provides customized financial services to individuals, families and organizations.
"I have enjoyed my experience as county controller and I am forever grateful to the citizens and voters of Mercer County who placed their confidence in me," Songer said.
He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's in business administration with a concentration in finance from Youngstown State University.
He has also completed portions of the Certified Financial Planning program.
During his terms as controller, Songer taught accounting and finance at Penn State Shenango in Sharon and for the American Institute of Banking.
He and his wife, Dodi, and their two children live in Sharpsville.
