YOUNGSTOWN Drivers of three cars face cocaine charges



YOUNGSTOWN -- City police have arrested several people on charges of suspected cocaine.
At about 1:30 a.m. today, police arrested a 33-year-old New Middletown man after observing a female passenger from the Chrysler New Yorker he drove make a $50 purchase at a known South Side drug house on Willis Avenue.
The man was arrested on Market Street near Warren Avenue after police stopped him on a traffic violation and found the suspected crack cocaine. He admitted the woman had purchased the drugs for him.
Accident: On Saturday at about 9 p.m., police arrested a 48-year-old Poland Township man on the city's West Side on charges of driving under the influence, cocaine drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after a hit-and-run accident on North Hazelwood Avenue, police reports show.
Witnesses said the man hit another car nearly head-on. A breath test showed he had an alcohol level of 0.214, more than twice the legal limit for driving.
After his arrest on the driving violation, deputies at the Mahoning County Jail found suspected cocaine, hypodermic needles and a silver spoon in his sock.
Park arrest: At about 4:40 p.m. Saturday, city and Mill Creek Park police arrested an 18-year-old West Side man on a cocaine drug abuse charge after viewing a suspected rock of crack cocaine in a car the Broadview resident drove into the park at Glenwood and Falls avenues, police reports show.
