Ex-employee jailed
SHARON, Pa. -- A former employee of Hot Rod Cafe, part of the Three By the River restaurants complex, was in jail this morning in the Saturday night burglary of the establishment.
Thomas R. Hoffman III, 21, of Prindle Street, was picked up at Prindle and Spruce Avenue around 7:40 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Police later searched his apartment and found what was described as "a large amount of cash" believed to have been taken from the business.
The burglary was discovered at 6 a.m. Sunday when employees noticed the door to a safe had been removed. The exact amount of money taken was undisclosed but police said they believe most of it has been recovered.
Hoffman was arraigned before District Justice James McMahon who ordered him held in Mercer County jail with bond set at $50,000 pending a preliminary hearing.
