Surprise anniversary celebration held to honor Whites in Canfield

YOUNGSTOWN -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. David White, 204 Charlestown Place, was celebrated Nov. 3 during a surprise party at McMahon Hall in Canfield.
Invitations for the event were extended by the couple's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell (Janette) Jones of Kenosha, Wis. Also serving as hosts for the occasion were the Whites' four grandchildren.
The former Christine Allen and Mr. White were united in marriage Nov. 1, 1951, at the home of the bride's grandmother in Oakville, Ky.
Mrs. White retired in 1987 from General Motors Corp. in Lordstown, where she was employed in the general account salary payroll department.
Her husband served with the U.S. Army 11th Airborne at Fort Campbell, Ky., from 1948 to 1952. In 1978 he retired from his position as production control manager with Universal Rundle in New Castle, Pa.
The couple are members of First Presbyterian Church in Girard.
