Book signing
A book signing will be held today at a holiday craft show at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman and Jan. 26 at the Book Nook in Warren Plaza in Warren from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for "Out of Order," a book by Judith Orlando Shirilla of Boardman.
"Out of Order" details the eight-year battle with brain cancer fought by the late Nick E. Shirilla, her husband. The book is published by Son-Rise Publications of New Wilmington and costs $12.95. It is available at many area Christian bookstores, plus Sky Bank in Boardman, Twice Loved Books and Dorian Books in Youngstown, Book Nook in Warren and Borders in Niles.
Heaven book
Dr. Chuck McGowen of Warren has written his third book. McGowen, who spent 30 years living in Poland and working in private practice in internal medicine/endocrinology in the Youngstown area, has published "Let's Talk About Heaven" (ACW Press $14). The book came in response to the death of Barry and Julie Colmery, son and daughter-in-law of good friends of the author's. The Colmerys and their unborn child were killed on Swissair Flight 111 near Nova Scotia.
Right after the tragedy, Barry's mother asked McGowen the question, "Chuck, tell me about heaven." Although McGowen had taught theology at his church, Old North Church, Canfield, he was not able to answer her to his satisfacton. Doing this research became the basis for the book.
It has chapters on the first, second and third heaven, the eternal heaven, residents of heaven and relationships.
"Let's Talk About Heaven" is available from many area Christian bookstores and at Borders Book and Music in Niles.
