Gruitza: Hook a 'reel'bargain on license
Pennsylvania anglers can hook an extra month of fishing by purchasing their 2002 license and trout stamp in December, according to state Rep. Mike Gruitza, D-Mercer, Pa.
Gruitza said a 2002 fishing license and trout stamp purchased through the end of the year will remain valid through Dec. 31, 2002. Sportsmen and women can land a 13-month license through a local fishing license issuing agent or order online at www.fish.state.pa.us.
Through December, the Fish and Boat Commission will stock 59 lakes in 44 counties across the state with more than 91,000 adult trout, including rainbow, brook and brown, to provide winter action for ice fishermen.
Gruitza added the state will have gone seven years without an increase in license fees, and it's the 12th straight year without an increase in the price of a trout stamp.
