Grand jury declines to bring charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury declined to bring charges against a man suspected in a Halloween homicide.
The panel issued a no-bill against Darryll Brown, 19, of Crandall Avenue. A no-bill means the grand jury did not believe there was enough evidence to indict him. He faced charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.
Brown was a suspect in the Oct. 31 killing of Hyland Burton IV, 23, of Tod Lane on the city's North Side. Police said three masked men kicked in the door to Burton's home around 7:30 a.m. and shot him. Police arrested Brown the next day.
Assistant Prosecutor Jay Macejko said Thursday the investigation is still ongoing and the case can be presented for indictment again if more evidence is obtained. The grand jury also declined to indict 20-year-old Solomon Clay IV of Victor Avenue, who faced charges of receiving stolen property, possessing criminal tools and illegal possession of a weapon.
