Arena board votes on new officers

YOUNGSTOWN -- Thursday was the civic center board's annual meeting and the forum to pick new officers. Board bylaws don't let officers serve more than one year.
Robert VanSickle moved up from vice chairman to chairman, replacing Leonard Schiavone. Gil Peterson was named vice chairman.
Neither nomination was opposed. The Rev. Kelvin Turner declined a nomination for vice chairman. JoAnn Blunt was elected secretary, defeating the Rev. Edward P. Noga by an 8-4 vote. She replaces the Rev. Mr. Turner.
Board members deadlocked 6-6 on a new treasurer, so they decided to vote again next week. Mr. Turner and Paul Lyden are the candidates.
