Cal Thomas was right about nuclear weapons

Cal Thomas was right about nuclear weapons
EDITOR:
I have sat by silently until now, but I feel that I must respond to the writer in a recent issue of The Vindicator who compared columnist Cal Thomas to Adolph Hitler. I am a senior citizen and a lifetime Democrat, so I never really agreed with ol' Cal very often, but that comparison to Hitler was an incredibly uninformed statement, one that shows a serious lack of knowledge of world history, and of mankind's struggle against evil and murderous tyrants in the 20th century.
That writer called Cal Thomas' statement advocating the use of nuclear weapons against Bin Laden, the Al-Qaida and the Taliban as advocating genocide. Someone should explain to this person what true genocide really is.
During World War II Adolph Hitler tried to kill every Jew and ethnic minority in Europe, and he succeeded in murdering over six million of them before he was stopped. That, sir, is genocide. Did you also know that if Hitler had won World War II that he planned to build a vast network of gas chambers and crematory ovens in the United States of America to "finish the job"? Would you really, in all seriousness, compare a newspaper columnist to this monster from hell?
Osama bin Laden took four jetliners loaded with passengers and fuel, and murdered over 5,000 people in New York and several hundred in Washington. On our own American soil. Is that not genocide? And you have the audacity to compare Mr. Thomas to these murdering animals. Whose side are you on, anyway? Mr. Thomas said the use of nuclear weapons was justified against those who are hell-bent on killing every man, woman and child in America (there's that genocide again), and preferable to wasting the flower of American youth in combat with these animals, and I heartily agree.
Would you want to send your son or daughter to face these murdering monsters in combat? In World War I, I believe the definition of the American soldier was "cannon fodder." These are the same people (in Afghanistan) who murder their women for the "crime" of showing their face or their ankle in public. They have absolutely no regard for human life whatsoever -- neither theirs nor ours.
For the first time, I find myself agreeing completely with Cal Thomas.

Children have no chance to avoid adults' smoke
EDITOR:
I am a student at Jackson-Milton High School and work part time as a hostess at a local restaurant. I am writing to you to express my concerns for the health of babies and young children. In a restaurant that offers both smoking and nonsmoking, there is no reason for these poor children to be exposed to unhealthy cigarette and cigar smoke.
I concede that it is an adult's choice to smoke, yet they're forcing it upon other children who may be in the restaurant. I find these people's acts to be both rude and ignorant.
How can they justify forcing an 18-month-old child to breathe in these fumes? There is an age limit on purchasing cigarettes, and that age limit is enforced for a reason. It is a proven fact that young children and babies exposed to secondary smoke have more health problems and weaker respiratory systems.
So parents, if you really respect and love not only your children but other children as well, put their needs before your cravings and don't expose them to harmful smoking environments.

Disbar former judge
EDITOR:
Edward Cox deserves to be permanently disbarred.
Only a moron would think the money from Richard Goldberg was a loan.
The public has suffered enough from his low morals. It's a sure bet with Dana Deshler at the helm of this decision, there will be a lot of forgiveness. Please let your voice be heard, otherwise Judge Deshler along with Chief Justice Moyer will sic this judge on us again.
