Flask bankruptcy case

Flask bankruptcy case
YOUNGSTOWN -- At the request of his attorney, a bankruptcy hearing for Edward A. Flask was postponed Tuesday. The hearing was rescheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 18.
Flask, of Poland, filed for bankruptcy Oct. 19, three days before a civil case filed by the Ohio Attorney General's Office seeking $2.4 million from him was set to begin.
The attorney general plans to raise objections to Flask's bankruptcy filing because the former board director of the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District listed the $2.4 million lawsuit as the main liability on his bankruptcy filing.
Underage liquor sales
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Liquor Control Commission, which had hearings in September, has announced that four liquor permit holders in the city have been penalized for underage liquor sales.

Littering leads to arrest
YOUNGSTOWN -- Deputies working litter patrol in Mahoning County found trash on Bridge Street on the city's West Side Tuesday night and information in the bags led them to 1635 Butler St. to look for Thomas Christopher and another man.
The deputies found Christopher at the house and discovered that a contempt-of-court warrant had been issued in Niles for him. Deputies arrested Christopher, 22, of Kimblewick Lane, Warren, then met Niles police on state Route 46 to transfer custody.
Armed robbery
YOUNGSTOWN -- A gunman robbed the manager of Pay Day Cash Advance as she left the Mahoning Avenue business about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
As the manager went to her car, parked in front of the business, the man approached and demanded her purse, then showed her his handgun. The manager told police that she had the store's deposit in her purse.
Child-rape trial
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jurors began deliberating late Tuesday afternoon in the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court trial of Jose Manuel Rosado, 38, of Lanterman Road, charged with 20 counts of rape.
If convicted, Rosado faces life in prison without parole. The trial is in the courtroom of Judge Robert Lisotto.
Rosado is accused of having sexual contact with two girls he knew. The victims, who now are 16 and 15, said they were 6 and 7 when the assaults started.
Peeper sought
BOARDMAN -- Township police are looking for a man suspected of peeping in a window in the 50 block of Ferncliff Avenue.
Reports say a couple woke up at about 10:30 p.m Tuesday and found a man standing in the bushes and looking in a front window of their home. The man of the house went outside to confront the peeper, who then ran off.
The peeper was described as a medium-built white man about 5 feet 9 inches tall wearing a white, hooded sweatshirt.
Security risk list
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Law Enforcement Automated Data System began compiling reports today that police believe may indicate a Homeland Security risk as defined by Director Tom Ridge.
During periods of increased risk, police are asked to make entries into the "cop file." LEADS will add entries received from out of state and generate reports every six hours until the warning has expired, at least through mid-December.
Account-closed checks
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that a Youngstown woman cashed checks worth a total of $5,100 in November even though her account had been closed since last year.
A security officer for the Home Savings and Loan branch on Mahoning Avenue told police Tuesday that the woman, 49, of Wilshire Drive, cashed a check for $1,800 on Nov. 7 and a check for $800 on Nov. 8 at the branch. The woman told bank staff that she would repay the money Nov. 14.
The woman never paid the money back, however, and, on Nov. 16, she cashed a check for $2,500 at another Home Savings and Loan branch.
