Judge sentences man for case fixing

CLEVELAND -- Martin J. DePerro of Austintown, owner of Youngstown Bridge & amp; Iron, who admitted in federal court that he helped two friends fix their DUIs at Mahoning County Court in Austintown, has been sentenced to two years' probation, with the first 10 months on electronically monitored house arrest.
U.S. District Judge Kathleen M. O'Malley also ordered that DePerro perform 200 hours of community service.
DePerro, 48, pleaded guilty in September 1999 but sentencing was delayed pending his testimony at the October racketeering trial of Russell J. Saadey Jr., who was found guilty, and James A. Vitullo, who was found innocent.
DePerro was sentenced last Wednesday after first asking that the proceeding be reset.
