Uniontown beats Canfield for Midland title
MIDLAND, Pa. -- Chris Jacobs and Dierre Jenkins each scored 17 points to lead Uniontown (Pa.) over Canfield 58-39 Saturday in the title game of the Midland Tournament.
One of the top teams in Pennsylvania Quad-A, Uniontown (2-0) also got 12 points from Terrance Vaughns.
Canfield (1-1), which defeated East Liverpool on Friday night, was led by Chase Booms' 14 points.
Maplewood 66, Ashtabula Sts. John & amp; Paul 39: MECCA -- Maplewood took a 19-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back in its first game. Six-one sophomore swingman Jeremy Mohorick had seven of his 15 points in the third quarter, while 6-1 junior forward Joe Young added 12 points for the Rockets. Kevin Peterson grabbed 10 of Maplewood's 41 rebounds. Justin Hammonds' 14 points led Sts. John/Paul.
Linesville, Pa. 90, Pymatuning Valley 77: ANDOVER -- Kelly Martin scored 23 points for the Lions (1-1). Jimmy Edison scored 28 points, while Cordie Drnek and Jason Kuntz had 14 apiece for the Lakers (0-2). Josh Pal pulled down five rebounds for the Lakers, while Kuntz passed out three assists.
Beaver Falls 96, Mohawk 89: BESSEMER -- Christian Hauser fired in 33 points, while Kenneth Johnson added 20, with four 3-point goals, to lead Beaver Falls to its romp over Mohawk in the championship game of the Mohawk Tip-Off Tournament.
Rodney Slappy added 17 points and Leo Clements 13 to aid the winners.
Brian Fadden poured in 34 points, including four 3-point goals, to lead Mohawk (1-1). Ryan Carr chipped in with 21 points and Zach Cyrus 15.
East Liverpool 61, Erie Cathedral Prep 59: MIDLAND, PA. -- East Liverpool led by nine (42-33) entering the final quarter but Cathedral Prep stroked seven 3-point goals in the final eight minutes to make it close.
Roosevelt Kirby hit for 21 points to lead the Potters and Brett Green tacked on 11 more points.
