AUSTINTOWN -- Monsignor George Appleyard heard the exchange of marriage vows between Lisa R. Surman, 2260 Par Lane, Willoughby, and Josef D. Freer, also of Willoughby, during a ceremony Oct. 27 at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church Byzantine Rite.
After the 3:30 p.m. ceremony the newlyweds received guests at The Georgetown in Boardman.
They honeymooned in Hawaii and live in Willoughby.
Parents of the bride are Bernice and Chuck O'Neil of Canfield and Joseph and Janine Surman of Austintown. The groom is a son of Ronald and Toni Freer of East Palestine.
A probation officer with the U.S. District Courts in Cleveland, Mrs. Freer earned a master's degree in criminal justice at Kent State University.
The groom graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and is employed by Swagelok in Concord. He also is a first lieutenant commandeer of the 319th HHD Army Reserve Unit.
The bride wore an Italian silk and Venise lace gown designed with a rounded neckline, portrait sleeves and semicathedral train.
Christine Kabalan of Columbus, the bride's sister and matron of honor, wore a maroon-colored dress, as did the bridesmaids, Shayne Phillips and Shannon Phillips, both of Columbus; Paula McCabe of Hubbard; and Valerie Pawlowski of Cleveland.
Steve Freer of Columbus performed the duties of best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Joe and Scott Schaffer, both of Canfield, the bride's brothers; Tim McCabe of Hubbard; and Don Sutton of Cleveland.
