Dan Snow turns rocks into art

Dan Snow turnsrocks into art
Dan Snow is a dry-stone waller, an artisan who builds walls, terraces and other structures from loose stones held together only by gravity. His work has a sculptural quality that's explored in the new book "In the Company of Stone: The Art of the Stone Wall."
Snow uses found stones and determines the placement of each by the sounds it makes as it settles into place. Photographs by Peter Mauss capture the simple beauty of his work and accompany Snow's reflections on his craft.
"I may work by myself, but I'm not alone. I'm in the company of stone," Snow writes.
The book is published by Artisan and is priced at $35 for hardcover and $22.50 for paperback.
