COLUMBIANA -- Several Trumbull and Mahoning County administrators are among the finalists for schools superintendent here.
Treasurer Lori Posey said the board will pick a new superintendent Dec. 19.
Superintendent Dr. Joseph Rottenborn, in the final year of a three-year contract, will retire later this month.
Posey said the board has interviewed seven candidates, including Raymond A. Wagner, principal of Columbiana's South Side Middle School, from a list of 25 who applied.
Others on list: Also being considered are Albert A. Toth, South Range Schools middle school principal; Robert A. Rostan, Poland Schools high school associate principal; Thomas F. Harrison, Champion Schools high school principal; Nancy L. Williams, Howland Schools elementary curriculum supervisor; Patricia Hura, Trumbull Career and Technical Center director and principal; and Dr. Richard M. Lund, Avon Schools technology director.
A panel of parents, students, teachers and staff and community members will interview some or all of the finalists Tuesday, she said.
The board will then meet in executive session at 5 p.m. Wednesday to consider the panel's recommendations, she said.
Rottenborn will have completed a 30-year education career and seven years as Columbiana superintendent.
Background: Before becoming Columbiana superintendent, Rottenborn was assistant superintendent of the Chagrin Falls and Canfield school districts, assistant principal of Salem High School, and taught social studies in the Boardman Schools for 13 years.
