YOUNGSTOWN -- The All Children Learn Differently School and Learning Center has launched a $350,000 fund-raising campaign to buy a downtown building.
The school, founded nearly 30 years ago, plans to move from the First Presbyterian Church on Wick Avenue to the former John Booth Insurance Co. building on Wood Street. The school already has received a $100,000 donation from the Leona and Lou Adler Foundation, said Erica Brown, ACLD director. The school includes a full-day educational alternative program for children with learning disabilities and a tutoring center for children and adults.
GED tests setfor December
CANFIELD -- The high school diploma equivalency test, commonly known as the GED, will be given from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Mahoning County Career & amp; Technical Center. It will be the final opportunity to take the test under the current format. All previous scores will be thrown out, and a new format will be introduced in January.
The test is free for adults who have passed an official GED practice test and are taking the exam for the first time. Adults who are at least 19 years old and out of high school are eligible to take the test.
Choffin studentselected as officers
YOUNGSTOWN -- Five students at Choffin Career and Technical Center were elected regional officers at the SkillsOhio-VICA Northeast Regional Conference in Canton: President Elizabeth Scott, senior; Vice President Kenyatta Robinson, junior; Secretary Ashly Moore, junior; Treasurer Jennifer Coyier, junior; and Parliamentarian Jolanda Estes, junior.
