MCCONNELL'S MILL STATE PARK September schedule



WEEKENDS
The Old Mill is open weekends only from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Visitors can join a tour or take a self-guided walk through the Old Mill following exhibits that tell the story of grinding grain.
FRIDAYS, SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS
Historic Grist Mill Tours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. McConnell's Mill, one of the first rolling mills in the county, processed corn, oats, wheat and buckwheat for local customers. Join the naturalist at the entrance to the Old Mill for a 45-minute journey through history and see how grain was transformed into flour.
Corn Grinding Demonstrations: 1, 3, and 5 p.m. Come grind some corn at the Old Mill. This half-hour demonstration will show how the Miller ground corn into cornmeal during the mid-1800s using the power of Slippery Rock Creek.
OTHER EVENTS
Fall Wildflower Folklore, 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 8. Meet the naturalist in the Kildoo Picnic Area to discuss the history and folklore associated with the beautiful fall wildflowers of Pennsylvania.
Leaf Scavenger Hunt: 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 9. Meet in the Kildoo Picnic Area across the road from the large picnic area to look at different patterns and shapes of leaves. Everyone will go on a scavenger hunt to see how many different leaf patterns and shapes they can find. Bring grandparents along to help celebrate Grandparents Day.
