AUSTINTOWN Numerous reports keep police busy

A man was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

AUSTINTOWN -- Township police had a busy weekend as they responded to 10 reports of theft, seven domestic disputes, five cases of breaking and entering, three reports of domestic violence and two fights.
The most serious domestic violence report came Sunday morning, when a South Raccoon Road woman told police that her live-in boyfriend put a butcher knife in her mouth. The woman, 28, said the boyfriend threatened to cut her jaw off, and also punched her in the head and kicked her in the legs. Police took photos of cuts in the woman's mouth and bruises on her legs.
The woman said she went to her mother's house to escape her boyfriend after the attack. The boyfriend, 42, was later arrested on a charge of domestic violence.
Police also responded to a domestic violence call Saturday evening on North Yorkshire Boulevard, where a 37-year-old woman said she fought with her two teen-age daughters after refusing to buy them cigarettes. The fight occurred Friday. Police did not make any arrests or issue any citations.
The other reports of domestic violence or disputes involved shoving matches or arguments among family members.
Thefts reported: Police also investigated the theft of items stolen from two buildings at the baseball fields at 600 N. Raccoon Road. A representative of Tri-County Baseball reported that two hot dog rotisserie machines, 36 bottles of assorted beverages, 24 sticks of beef jerky, a box of coffee and a box of hot chocolate were stolen from his organization's building late Friday or early Saturday.
The hot dog machines are worth a total of $1,500.
Meanwhile, a representative of Austintown Community Baseball reported that stereo and baseball equipment, three bottles of weed-eater chemicals, and a drill were stolen from his group's buildings this month.
In addition, a Jonathan Lane man reported this weekend that a $5,500 ring had been stolen from his house; a Salem woman told police that $600 was stolen from her bank account at Farmers National Bank; money was stolen during break-in at a car wash on state Route 46; and a group of people left Denny's without paying for $61.89 in food.
The fights occurred at a home on state Route 46 and Phillie's bar, also on state Route 46.
