Woman reports attempted rape

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a report that a teen-age male attempted to rape a Lowellville woman Friday afternoon.
Police say the 30-year-old woman was driving on U.S. Route 224 near Hillsville when she stopped to pick up the teen, who asked for a ride to a nearby mobile home park.
Once the teen was in the car, he grabbed the woman by the head and forced her to drive to a secluded area off Coffee Run Road in Mahoning Township.
The teen then took the woman's money and attempted to rape her. Police say the woman's screams apparently frightened the teen, however, who ran from the car before he could rape the woman.
The woman was cut during the attack. She refused medical treatment.
Police say the teen is between 16 and 18 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has a slender build and light brown hair that is shaved on the sides and worn in a ponytail in the back.
Police are asking anyone with information about the attack to call them at (724) 598-2211.
