YOUNGSTOWN -- The Hawaiian island of Maui is the honeymoon destination of James Houck and his bride, the former Kathleen Durkin, both of Boardman, who were married Aug. 25 at St. Dominic Church.
The Rev. Brian Mulcahy solemnized the marriage at 2 p.m., and afterward a reception was held in honor of the couple at Antone's Banquet Centre, Boardman.
Parents of the bride are Thomas and Pamela Durkin of Youngstown, and the groom is a son of Ronald Houck of Cortland and Becky Houck of Lordstown.
The A-line off-the-shoulder-style gown worn by the bride was enhanced with floral-patterned guipure lace over silk shantung and featured a chapel train.
Jeannine Lamanna, honor attendant, wore black and white, as did the bridesmaids, Jennifer Durkin, Lisa Durkin, and Lisa Durkin, the bride's sisters-in-law; Carla Lawless; and Shelley Stafford.
Best man was Tom Green, and groomsmen were Tom, Joe and Robert Durkin, brothers of the bride; Scott Houck, the groom's brother; and Chris Witty. Ushers were his cousins, Nathan Zimmerman and Doug Sangregorio.
The bride, a registered dietitian, graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree and is pursuing a master's at the University of Akron.
The groom earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University School of Journalism in Columbus and is a media relations specialist with Bell and Howell PropQuest in Richfield.
