2 waves of migration

2 waves of migration
Migrants from Asia populated the New World in at least two separate waves, a new study shows.
One group, from prehistoric Japan and the islands of Polynesia, traveled across a land bridge to North America, beginning about 15,000 years ago. The second wave broke much later, as people from mainland Asia journeyed as far as the American Southwest by 1,000 years ago.
This new picture of the earliest Americans comes from a team of U.S. and Chinese scientists, led by Loring Brace of the University of Michigan.
More Curious George
NEW YORK -- Curious George's inquisitiveness never gets old. He turns 60 this year and two new books starring the little monkey will be in bookstores to mark the occasion.
"Curious George Goes to a Costume Party" and "Curious George in the Big City" (Houghton Mifflin, $3.95 each) are illustrated in the style of H.A. Rey (1898-1977) and his wife Margret Rey (1906-1996), who introduced George to the world in 1941. The newest titles are illustrated by Martha Weston.
