Man gets jail time for corrupting a minor

WARREN -- A 22-year-old city man will serve six months behind bars for corrupting a minor.
Charles Davies, Shalom Avenue N.W., pleaded guilty last month before Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Judge McKay agreed Wednesday with a prosecutor's recommendation that Davies receive six months in a state prison in Lorain.
In exchange for Davies' guilty plea, they agreed to dismiss three charges of rape.
Police say Davies, who was 21 at the time, engaged in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl July 24, 2000, at Willow Lake in Champion.
Davies is being labeled a sexually oriented offender, the least serious of three classifications established to track the whereabouts of sexual offenders. The other two labels are sexual predator and habitual sexual offender.
Davies' classification means he must register his address with authorities in any community he resides, once a year for 10 years.
