Man charged with vehicular assault, DUI

YOUNGSTOWN -- Daniel J. Harris, whose car struck two women July 29 as they walked across Glenwood Avenue, has been charged with aggravated vehicular assault and driving under the influence.
Harris, 22, of West Judson Avenue was arraigned Tuesday in municipal court and Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly set bond at $12,000, allowing 10 percent to be paid.
He returns to court Aug. 17 for a pretrial.
Tiffany Patterson, 29, of Woodford Avenue and Jonelle Austin, 31, of Kenmore Avenue were injured in the crash at 1:45 a.m.
Harris told Detective Sgt. Patricia Garcar that he didn't see the women crossing and admitted he had been drinking.
He submitted to a urine test, which showed that his alcohol content was above the legal limit.
