GROVE CITY, PA. Meeting expectations at new sites

The street fair will include amusement rides and activities in town and on the college campus.
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The city's 44th annual street fair will kick off at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the Grove City Community Parade along Broad Street.
Sue Jones, parade chairwoman, said there are more than 50 units registered for the parade -- including marching bands, drill teams, dignitaries, clowns, floats, ambulances and firetrucks.
This year's street fair also features amusement rides, entertainment, craft displays and the Golden Child Pageant for children up to age 6.
Change of location: "People can expect from the fair what they've always expected, a lot of activity," said Mary Bowlin, executive director of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce.
"But this year, the stage has been moved to the lower campus [at Grove City College]. It's a little more relaxing for people. They can sit on the grass and enjoy the music."
Previously, the main stage was on Broad Street.
In addition to craft displays along the midway, there will be crafters on the lawn on the college's lower campus from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Bowlin said in the past, crafters have displayed their wares exclusively along the midway.
Most street fair activities will run Wednesday night through Saturday. Admission is free. Activity fees will vary.
Midway hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. the rest of the week.
Town merchants will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
