BASS MASTERS The winner is...

BASS MASTERS
And the winner is ...
Kevin VanDam applied his high-energy fishing style to light off fireworks Saturday in the Louisiana Super Dome with his victory in the 31st annual BASS Masters Classic.
VanDam, of Kalamazoo, Mich., hooked up with limits of bass each of the three tournament days and finished with a total weight of 32 pounds 5 ounces.
Second went to Scott Rook of Arkansas with 31-4, followed by first day leader David Walker of Kentucky with 31-3.
Known for covering a lot of water, VanDam caught his fish by flipping a 1/2-ounce black, blue and purple Strike King jig with a Zoom Super Chunk.
"I fished slow real fast," he said. "I think the bigger jig generated reaction strikes with its fast fall."
VanDam earned $100,000 for his win in front of some 20,000 bass fans in the Super Dome and a live ESPN television audience.
