DR. LAWRENCE L. MAGGIANO, 81 Medical director at GM Lordstown
HOWLAND -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Living Lord Lutheran Church for Dr. Lawrence L. Maggiano, 81, of 8565 Hunters Trail S.E., who died Sunday morning in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, after a long illness.
Mr. Maggiano was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Warren, a son of Michael and Celestina Tura Maggiano Sr.
He graduated in 1937 from Warren G. Harding High School and had served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1949 from Youngstown College, and he graduated in 1953 from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago.
He interned at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown and served on the staff of Trumbull Memorial Hospital from 1955 to 1986, where he was chief resident in 1954. He also was medical director at General Motors in Lordstown for 16 years, physician for Warren City Schools for 17 years, and was the WGH football team doctor. He was a member of the church.
He leaves his wife, the former Josephine Fridley; four daughters, Dr. Holly J. of Howland, Amy E. Piel of Hudson, Gina Propri of Austintown and Kelly Hughes of Warren; two sons, Dr. Robert of Fort Myers, Fla., and Richard of Liberty; a brother, Michael Jr. of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Lee Reed of Vero Beach; and two grandchildren.
Two brothers, Daniel and Vincent; and two sisters, Angela Maselli and Josephine Maggiano, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peter Rossi & amp; Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Contributions may be made to the church, 851 Niles-Cortland Road N.E., Howland 44484 or the donor's favorite charity.
