DORIS A. DeFOREST, 88 Taught in several area school districts



BRACEVILLE -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Braceville Christian Church for Doris A. DeForest, 88, of 3827 Herr Fieldhouse Road, who died Saturday evening at home.
Mrs. DeForest was born May 23, 1912, in Coshocton, a daughter of Harry and Lulu Angel Clark, and came to the area in 1923.
A 1930 graduate of Braceville High School, she received her teaching degree at Kent State University. She taught a total of 40 years in Newton Falls, Warren and Braceville, including 30 years as a first-grade teacher in Braceville. She also taught at LaBrae Schools before retiring in 1977.
She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist of Warren where she was a first and second reader, member of the board of trustees, chairman of the music committee and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Trumbull County and Ohio Retired Teachers associations.
She was recently honored at the dedication of Discovery Park for the State Retirement Systems 80th Anniversary in Columbus for her many years of service.
Her husband, Robert D., whom she married June 18, 1937, died May 25, 1999.
She leaves two daughters, Nancy Mancino of Braceville and Judy Babyak of Newton Falls; two brothers, Robert Clark of Braceville and Dr. William Clark of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Contributions may be made to First Church of Christ Scientists, Warren, Ohio. Arrangements are by James Funeral Home, Newton Falls.
