YO-MAH-O Local chapter honors outstanding executive



The recognition is based on service to the community.
BOARDMAN -- John J. Kunovic, assistant vice president and branch manager of the South Side Branch of Home Savings and Loan Co., was named Executive of the Year by Yo-Mah-O Chapter, International Association of Administrative Professionals, as the chapter marked Administrative Professional Day April 25 during a dinner and meeting at Antone's Banquet Centre.
Kunovic was branch manager at the main office of the Home Savings and Loan Company and then was manager for 12 years at the Austintown Branch. He now serves as a loan originator with the South Side office on Hillman Way.
Involvement: Kunovic served as president of the International Peace Race, president of Boardman Kiwanis from 1981-82 and adviser for Junior Achievement and its fund-raising committee, and has been involved with the YMCA, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Youngstown Roadrunners and Choffin Career Center. He is a member of Youngstown Area Chamber of Commerce and treasurer for Austintown Plaza Merchants Association.
Kunovic has been a CCD teacher, a member of the parish council, a financial institute instructor, chairman of the finance committee and co-chairman of the church festival at St. Christine Church in Youngstown.
Recommended for the honor by Joan Battagline, his secretary, Kunovic received an engraved desk clock from Roseann DeSimone-Cullen.
The program was presented by Rita M. Rizzo, principal of Rizzo and Associates. The work of the chapter was explained by Mary Mislay Hake, president.
In charge of the event and welcoming guests were DeSimone-Cullen and Barbara Kramer.
