Officers elected
The Tri-State Marine Corps League Detachment and its auxiliary elected officers for 2001.
League officers are: Joseph Caruso of Canfield, commandant; Harry Dampf, senior vice commandant; Michael Shepherd, junior vice commandant; George MacGillivray, judge advocate; Dale Baringer, chaplain. Auxiliary officers are: Jane Popa of Liberty, president; Mary Jean Michael, senior vice president; Elpha Oakley, junior vice president; Ann Hudak, judge advocate.
To decorate graves
The United Veterans Council's graves decoration meeting will be at 2 p.m. today at Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission office, 2801 Market St., Youngstown. Flags will be issued at the meeting and applications for Memorial Day expenses will be available.
Health evaluations
The Mobile Outreach Team of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Butler will provide free health evaluations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at American Legion Post 749, Wampum; May 15 at American Legion Post 162, Sharpsville; May 17 at American Legion Post 299, Sharon; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 22 at American Legion Post 19, New Brighton. Veterans should bring discharge papers.
TRAINING
Graduates
U Navy Fireman Recruit Jason T. Barger (Mohawk High School, Bessemer), a son of Kenneth and Judith Barger, 394 Trotter Road, Bessemer, graduated from gas turbine systems technician mechanical course.
U Navy Seaman Apprentice Michael A. Seidler, whose wife, Christina, is a daughter of Mary Wynn, 3610 Villa Rose Drive, Canfield, and Triandafulos Likouris, Canton, graduated from basic enlisted submarine course.

Kelecave (South Range High School, North Lima '00), a son of Stephen P. Kelecave, 12324 Beaver Creek Road, Salem; Airman 1st Class Christian J. Campbell (Farrell High School '94), a grandson of Winnie Campbell, 602 Wallis Ave., Farrell.
HONORS
Army commendation
Army Staff Sgt. Corey S. Williams, a son of Christal V. Burns, Sunset Drive, East Liverpool; and Army Specialist Joseph E. Bello Jr., a son of Joseph E. Bello Sr., Dowling Road, Jamestown; were decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.
Williams is assigned as a maintenance team chief at Headquarters Co., 2nd Battalion; 9th Infantry, at Camp Casey, Tongduchon-Up, South Korea. Bello is a chemical operations specialist with the 71st Chemical Co., Shofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.
