Home buyers workshop
YOUNGSTOWN -- Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Youngstown will sponsor a first-time home buyers workshop from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The free workshop, at Family Service Agency, 535 Marmion Ave., is designed to cover basic home-buying information such as determining affordability, handling budget and credit problems, and applying. All participants will receive a credit certificate of attendance that will satisfy the education requirement for some mortgage programs. Call (330) 782-9113 to register.
River Sweep 2001
Volunteers are needed for River Sweep 2001, scheduled for June 16 along the shoreline of the Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela rivers.
River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond. Volunteers will help clear more than 3,000 miles of shoreline for trash and debris.
People who want to volunteer can call (800) 359-3977 for site locations and county coordinators in their area. Each volunteer gets a free T-shirt.
