Decorative pond clinic scheduled for May 10
CANFIELD -- The Mahoning County Soil & amp; Water Conservation District, in conjunction with Mill Creek MetroParks, will have a decorative pond clinic May 10 at 6:30 p.m.
The free clinic will be at McMahon Hall at the Mahoning County Farm on Rt. 46, across from the Canfield Fairgrounds.
One local resident will tell of obstacles he encountered while planting and installing a decorative pond. Phillip Steiner of Mellingers Nursery will get to the root of planting issues, and Bill Hoffman of Hoffman Gardens will discuss the importance of balancing the ecosystem and desirable fish species. Sara Jean Peters from the ODNR Division of Wildlife will discuss wildlife concerns that may be encountered after pond construction.
