PREPS Hayes is Brookfield's weapon on the base paths



He had a busy afternoon as the Warriors defeated Warren JFK.
BROOKFIELD -- Julian Hayes had three singles and five stolen bases, while Ryan Brand went 4-for-4, to spark the Brookfield High baseball team to a 14-7 win over Warren John F. Kennedy Thursday. Jeff Nasci allowed nine walks but won in his first start pitching for the Warriors (3-7).
Dave Eliser homered, while Scott Stofan had three hits, one a double, to reinforce Brookfield. JFK fell to 7-4.
Hubbard 10, Liberty 6: LIBERTY -- Hubbard came from behind, scoring three runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth.
Marty Kanetsky hit three singles and scored once to pace the Eagles. Tom Blackiston led Liberty (3-9) with two singles and two stolen bases.
Champion 6, Girard 5: CHAMPION -- Shawn Petrarca, who hit three singles, drove home the winning run for Champion in a five-run sixth.
Joe Ponzio and Greg Cook each hit two singles and Mike Williams drove in three runs for the Flashes (9-6, 4-4 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Keith Trevis and Max King hit two singles apiece for the Indians (7-5, 4-4).
Jackson-Milton 7, LaBrae 6: NORTH JACKSON -- LaBrae scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a two-run lead, but Jackson-Milton came back to score three times in the bottom of the inning.
John Hochendoner of Jackson-Milton (7-7) led off the seventh by reaching on an error.
Three straight walks yielded one run, then Bill Corbett singled to center, driving in two runs.
Hochendoner doubled, Lee Keck had three singles and three runs scored, while Corbett had a pair of hits.
Southington 14, Lordstown 2: SOUTHINGTON -- Winning pitcher Tim Grimm (3-3), who struck out five, hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth. The Wildcats' Josh Grimm hit a double and two singles, scored three times and stole two basses. Eric Elmore hit a two-run homer.
