Mike Byrdy throws a two-hitter

YOUNGSTOWN -- Mike Byrdy pitched a complete-game two-hitter with six strikeouts to lead the Youngstown Christian baseball team to a 16-1 victory over Wilson Thursday at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Byrdy also contributed a double, single and two RBIs.
Matt Byrdy added two singles and two RBIs for Youngstown Christian (5-1-1).
Wilson dropped to 2-9.
Poland 9, Chaney 7: POLAND -- Ted Russell had the game-winning RBI after Cody Holecko's solo homer tied the score at 7.
Poland rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Holecko finished a double and three singles, while Jon Habuda and Jeff Moore had two hits each for the Bulldogs (10-3).
For Chaney (6-6), Charles Jaminet had two RBIs and Gary Boris hit a pair of singles.
Austintown Fitch 8, Warren Harding 5: WARREN -- Kevin Pontius had a double, single and one RBI.
Josh Starr had three singles and one RBI, and Shawn Barber had a double and single to pace Fitch (12-7, 2-3) in a Steel Valley Conference game.
Burnich got the win with relief help from Kevin Schertzer, and improved to 2-0.
Warren Harding fell to 5-10, 2-5.
Boardman 5, Niles 3: NILES -- Kevin Gesacion, Mike Krieger and Matt Repec led the Spartans (13-3) with two singles apiece.
Boardman, which collected 10 hits, took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning.
West Branch 5, Marlington 4: ALLIANCE -- Todd Mast, Drew Romigh, Drew Barker and Matt Martig each had two hits for the Warriors.
The Dukes used a four-run sixth inning to tie the score at 4 but West Branch scored a run in the top of the seventh.
