JAMES F. MURTAUGH, 78



GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at C.J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home in Sharon for James F. Murtaugh, 78, of St. Paul Homes, formerly of Coolidge Drive, Hermitage, who died Wednesday morning at the home.
Mr. Murtaugh was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Dayton, Ky., a son of James A. and Catherine A. Shaffer Murtaugh.
He retired in 1984 after 42 years as an electrical tester for Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a 1941 graduate of Hubbard High School.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Hermitage. He was a coach and active in other ways in Little League in Hermitage. He was a member of the Westinghouse Retirees and Westinghouse Clerks Association. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
His wife, the former Sylvia Cella, whom he married June 5, 1948, died Sept. 22, 1997.
He leaves a daughter, Darlene M. McCann of Greenville; two sons, Thomas of Danville, Calif., and Ronald of Honesdale, Pa.; two brothers, Joseph of Hubbard and Kenneth of Madison, Miss.; and six grandchildren.
Two sisters, Catherine Griffiths and Mildred Armentrout, are deceased.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before services.
