SHARON, Pa. -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Olive Baptist Church, Masury, for James C. Jefferson, 67, of 383 Quinby St., who died of a heart ailment Wednesday night in Sharon Regional Health System hospital.
Mr. Jefferson was born July 1, 1933, in Oakvale, Miss., a son of Jessie and Rebecca Alexander Jefferson.
He attended Oakvale schools, served in the Army during the Korean War, and retired in 1997 after 19 years in the maintenance department of the Mercer County Housing Authority, formerly Shenango Inc.
He was a member of the church, where he had been a trustee, and was also a member of Twin City Elks 187 of Western Pennsylvania.
He leaves his wife, the former Carolyn A. Fox, whom he married Aug. 18, 1957; a daughter, Jennifer R. Jefferson, and a son, Willie C., both of Sharon; three sisters, Irene Baxter of Youngstown, Vera Green of Farrell and Marie Jones of Sharon; a brother, Bennie C. of Masury; and three grandchildren.
Five brothers, Willie, Wardell, Lardell, Tessell and Johnnie, are deceased.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the church, where Elks will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. New Murray Bell VFW Post 7597 of Farrell will provide military rites, and arrangements are by Shannon Funeral Home in Wheatland.
