Second fire damages house; blaze is considered suspicious

SHARON, Pa. -- Another fire of suspicious origin damaged a vacant house at 281 E. Silver St. early today. A police officer on patrol spotted flames coming from the west side of the 2 1/2-story frame structure at about 2:25 a.m. and notified the fire department.
Firefighters said the rear of the house was ablaze when they reached the scene.
Earlier fire: It was the second suspicious fire at the house this month. An April 3 blaze was started in an interior stairway and burned up an outside wall and into the eaves before it was brought under control. The house was up for sheriff's sale at the time, police said.
Damage was more extensive in this morning's fire, but the structure is still standing. Police said the building had been declared unfit for human habitation.
Firefighters said the house was locked up when they arrived and that they had to force open the front door to get inside.
One firefighter suffered a minor back injury but didn't require treatment, firefighters said.
A state police fire marshal has been called to aid in investigating the blaze.
