It's a mystery
CORTLAND -- "Matriarch Mayhem," a comedy mystery, will be sponsored by the Dianthus Chapter of the American Business Women's Association at 6 p.m. May 5 at the Opera House, 152 Park Ave.

Improvising a show
WARREN -- Live Wires Improvisation Group will have its semester-ending performance and competition at 7 p.m. May 4 in Kent State University Trumbull Campus Theatre, 4314 Mahoning Ave. N.W. Admission is free.
Five teams will compete for a panel of judges that will evaluate team play and ability to respond to situations quickly and humorously. Unlike the ABC show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," the judges' points will count in determining the winning team. Competitors may use mature subject matter. Call (330) 847-8700 for information.
Annual auction set
COLUMBIANA -- The Fifth Annual Community Auction at Heartland Christian School will be at from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the school, which is the former Columbiana High School at 28 Pittsburgh St.
Heartland is ending its first year in the school with 160 pupils in kindergarten through grade 12 from more than 20 school districts, and plans to add preschool for the 2001-2002 school year.
Items in the auction include trips, antiques, meals, services and furniture. The school hopes to raise $50,000 through the auction, compared with $12,000 raised last year. Funds are being used to repair the school. Call (330) 482-2331.
