City's share of funds
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city's 2001 share from the Mahoning County Community Development Program will be $242,190, commissioners announced. The money will be used to replace sidewalks across the city.
The program doles out money to local governments as part of the recently approved half-percent sales tax increase.
Celebrating Arbor Day
GIRARD -- Arbor Day will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Friday at Tod Park. Residents are invited to an oak-tree planting.
For cancer survivors
SHARON, Pa. -- Mercer County Unit of the American Cancer Society will have a "Surviving Together" cancer survivors conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 at the Rosemont Banquet Center, 200 Sterling Ave. The conference is free but registration is required and must be made by calling the society's office at (724) 346-3529.
