LEAVITTSBURG -- A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home in Warren for Richard E. Heakin, 79, of 571 Burwell N.W., who died of cancer Monday afternoon at Imperial Skilled Care Center in Warren.
Mr. Heakin was born July 29, 1921, in Washington, Pa., a son of William and Mae Cole Heakin, and lived in the Leavittsburg area most of his life.
He graduated from Leavittsburg High School, served in the Navy during World War II, and retired in 1980 after 39 years at Packard Electric Division of General Motors, where he was a die setter.
He was a member of Carroll F. Clapp Masonic Lodge 655, Ali Baba Grotto and Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown, the Shriners and American Legion Post 699 in Leavittsburg.
He leaves his wife, the former Inabelle Logan, whom he married Oct. 16, 1959; a stepson, Larry Carr of Leavittsburg; a sister, Rosanna Bryan of Leavittsburg; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, Janet Romack; three brothers, Harry, Bill and Sam; and a sister, Marian Johnson, are deceased.
Friends may call for one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
