MERCER, Pa. -- A judge in Mercer County Common Pleas Court has ordered a Farrell man to serve 31/2 to seven years in a state prison for a robbery at a Sharon residence last year.
On Tuesday, Judge Thomas Dobson credited Lawrence Edward Miller, 40, Roemer Blvd., 155 days for time served.
Sharon police arrested Miller on Nov. 16 . He pleaded guilty March 12 to conspiracy to commit robbery.
Police said Miller and an accomplice, Bobby Wilder, also known as Robert Wright, took $1,000 from a man at gunpoint.
Miller told authorities Wright asked him where the victim lived but said that he left Wright after leading him there. He said he didn't know Wright planned to rob the victim.
Sex offender: Judge Dobson also sentenced a West Middlesex man to one to two years in state prison on a sex conviction.
Shenango Township police arrested Marcus A. Bailey, 24, Oak Leaf Estate, on Oct. 19 on one count of indecent sexual intercourse, two counts of statutory sexual assault and two counts of aggravated indecent assault, all involving a 13-year-old girl.
Authorities said Bailey told them that he had had sex with a 13-year-old girl twice Oct. 14 but that she had initiated it. He pleaded no contest March 6 and was found guilty.
Resisting arrest: Donald K. Stoup, 26, Maplewood Avenue, Liberty, Ohio, was ordered to serve three months to one year in the Mercer County jail for resisting arrest, fighting with several officers and kicking out a police car window.
Sharon police arrested Stoup on Nov. 4 on several charges, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
On March 6 he pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, and the other charges were dismissed.
Police said they attempted to arrest Stoup after he hit a man at Papa's Place on North Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon.
They said Stoup hit a police officer and fought with several other officers.
Stoup told authorities he kicked out the cruiser window because he had been sprayed with Mace and could not breathe. He said he tried to tap on the window to get an officer's attention but got no response, so he kicked out the glass.
