HERMAN E. STEPHENSON, 77



PETERSBURG -- Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Seederly-Mong & amp; Beck Funeral Home, North Lima, for Herman E. Stephenson, 77, of 14266 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, who died Monday in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after a two-month illness.
Mr. Stephenson was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Mahoningtown, Pa., a son of Herman Sr. and Jesse Cromer Stephenson.
He retired from Truck Stops of America as a fuel attendant, where he worked 20 years. He served in the Army during World War II and was a former member of the VFW Triangle Post of New Springfield.
His first wife, the former Gladys Woodruff Cartwright, died Oct. 19, 1971.
Besides his wife, the former Janet R. Slagle, whom he married May 13, 1972, he leaves a daughter, Rita Stephenson of New Castle; a stepdaughter, Judy Huston of Brookfield; four stepsons, Robert Ankney of Petersburg, Donald Cartwright of New Waterford, Wayne Cartwright of North Lima, and Delbert Reed Jr. of Miami, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Several brothers and sisters are deceased.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
