GERTRUDE G. THURIK, 81



STRUTHERS -- Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Kirila Funeral Home, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, for Gertrude G. Thurik, 81, of 38 Hopewell Drive, who died Tuesday morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center after a one-year illness.
Mrs. Thurik was born Jan. 15, 1920, in New Salem, Pa., a daughter of Albert and Agnes Kalafut Galmish, coming to this area as a child.
A coiler for 25 years at General Electric Lamp Plant in Youngstown, she also had worked part time as a receptionist for Kirila Funeral Home for eight years.
She was a member of the church, its choir, Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and had been president of its Altar and Rosary Society. She also had served as lector and altar server and worked on its pirogi project. She was president of the Maria Grega Okres and a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association 156.
Her husband, John, whom she married Oct. 29, 1949, died Feb. 1, 1966.
She leaves two sons, John of Pasadena, Texas, and Edward of Struthers; two brothers, Robert Galmish of Poland and Cyril Galmish of Newark, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Two sisters, Bertha Fedor, and Irene Lightner, and a brother, Edward Galmish, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be at 4:45 p.m.
